Minimum Requirements:

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their knowledge and experience in the following areas:

  • A proven strategic and operational digital or technology visionary leader. Able to work collaboratively, take collective responsibility, make decisive strategic decisions (including the tough call when needed) and take calculated risks to display their leadership ability.
  • An effective role model, able to inspire and motivate, delegate and empower, communicate strategic decisions and provide a clear implementation roadmap, encouraging independent thought and diversity of ideas.
  • Proven leadership experience, and demonstrable ability to develop and deliver vision and strategy.
  • A track record of driving business growth through shaping digital initiatives and identifying/optimising opportunities. Ideally in a complex environment where there are opportunities from users, customers, and partners.
  • Experience in a significant and visible digital role with the lead responsibility for development of a successful, customer-focused digital product and with extensive interaction with an executive leadership team
  • Proven track record of delivering digital lead transformational change with well-developed project management skills. Ability to create structure and move an organisation to follow these practises (such as Agile/Scrum).
  • The ability to think and act strategically to develop practical, innovative and creative solutions to strategic issues and complex problems. Analytical and able to interpret complex data and information to inform decision making. Able to make unexpected connections and identify points of maximum leverage for action.
  • A generous leader and collaborator who is comfortable taking a ‘servant leader’ approach, building on the ideas and contributions of peers and supporting collective decision making. The skills to engage and take people with you on pan-BFI projects, building trust and openness with like previous demonstrable experience.
  • Good at championing change and changing themselves. Adaptable, forward thinking and interested in new thinking and innovation.
  • Enthusiastic and effective communicator with public audiences at national and international level, and talking to the press and media.
  • Proven ability to build business and cultural partnerships.

  • Extensive management experience, including motivating a multi-disciplinary team (including developers, creatives, policy/legal), with a successful track record of building and developing high performance teams.
  • A reputation for advocacy at the leading edge of digital online development. A skilled and tactful negotiator, confident dealing with high value individuals, commercial, cultural and government stakeholders.
  • A working knowledge of technology tools, publishing software design and development languages and protocols, plus current standards of syndicated online research.
  • Experience in financial management and forecasting, and managing budgets.
  • A proven track record of a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion and centering this within all responsible activities.
  • A track record of effective strategic stakeholder management, including experience of working with non-executive Board members, Government and key external stakeholders and in a publicly accountable and transparent environment.
  • Understanding of current professional issues and practice with a strong commitment to continuing professional development, developing professional standards, and a demonstrable knowledge of regulatory and ethical environments.
  • A commitment to the principles and techniques of continuous improvement, and the drive to introduce a rigorous approach to reviewing progress and performance and to raising standards.
