Executive Director of Knowledge and Collections

Thank you for your interest in the BFI. We are a cultural charity, a National Lottery distributor, and the UK’s lead organisation for film and the moving image. Our purpose is based on our fundamental belief that society needs stories, and through the power of film, television and the moving image we can bring those stories to life.

I became Chief Executive in February 2020 and my vision was to transform the BFI to make it more progressive – an employer of choice, a learning organisation, where we can get the best from each other.

Based on how we have worked together throughout the pandemic, we have developed a new set of culture drivers and principles for working together in the future – work where you can, when you can.

We have undergone an organisational restructure and are now looking to create a new Executive team that will lead the BFI into the future.

This is a hugely important and pivotal moment. The post of Executive Director of Knowledge & Collections will play a crucial role in developing a strategy to care for and transform the national collections, growing public access to them and sharing our knowledge to educate and deepen people’s appreciation and understanding of film and the moving image.

The teams this person will be responsible for are based in London and Hertfordshire, and we are looking for candidates based across the UK.

I very much look forward to understanding what you can bring to this amazing opportunity.
