Essential

  • Expert knowledge and understanding of data protection legislation with significant experience of its application in an operational environment, including information risk assessment and management and knowledge of the information security standards
  • Experience in the investigation and management of incidents and root cause analysis
  • Demonstrable experience in the provision of specialist advise and expertise, acting as a ‘trusted advisor’ to the Chief Executive and Executive Management Team (EMT)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to influence and challenge at the most senior level
  • Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to identify problems and develop solutions, pre-empting and dealing with situations to prevent any adverse issues for the GDC
  • Educated to degree level or have the relevant professional experience

Desirable

  • Specialist qualifications Information Governance, information law and/or ICT qualifications (e.g. CIPP(E), CIPM, ISEB, C-DPO, LLM)
  • Good knowledge of information technology, data management systems, and computer and confidentiality related legislation and professional standards
  • Records Management qualification or relevant professional experience
  • Experience of doing a similar role within a healthcare or regulatory environment
