Director of Intelligence

It is essential that in your written application you give evidence, using examples, of proven experience in each of the essential criteria of the person specification. These responses will be developed and discussed with candidates invited for interview.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate their knowledge, experience, capability and behavioural approach to a high standard against the following key criteria:

Essential Criteria

  • Experience of leading and delivering through large diverse teams in a complex operating environment where there are competing and challenging priorities.
  • Experience of influencing and negotiating with external partners to deliver outcomes against strategic objectives.
  • Experience of leading major technology related change programmes.
  • Personal flexibility and resilience to adapt and cope with external pressure in a volatile and fast-moving threat environment.
  • Experience of working closely with Ministers and of operating in a highly political environment, combined with experience of influencing a wide range of internal and external partners and stakeholders.
  • Either to be an MPLA graduate or a commitment to undertake it on appointment.
  • DV clearance – to be obtained once in post.

Desirable Criteria

  • An understanding of intelligence and its role in setting strategic and operational objectives, preferably through intelligence leadership experience in one of the following missions – national security or defence, SOC, immigration crime, public safety (e.g. policing), revenue and customs.
  • Experience of utilising and exploiting data in supporting operational delivery and demonstrating the value of data analytics and exploitation.
