Director of Enforcement Compliance & Crime

It is essential that in your written application you give evidence, using examples, of proven experience in each of the essential criteria of the person specification. These responses will be developed and discussed with candidates invited for interview.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate their knowledge, experience, capability and behavioural approach to a high standard against the following key criteria:

Essential Criteria

  • Significant experience of leading and delivering through large, diverse, geographically dispersed teams in a complex operating environment where there are competing and challenging priorities.
  • Strong experience in building new, sustainable and productive relationships with a broad range of senior stakeholders, across multiple sectors – including one or more of the following; central government, local government, NGOs, national and international law enforcement agencies, and communities.
  • Proven experience in, and commitment to, driving cultural change, fostering collaboration, developing an inclusive and diverse environment with the wellbeing of staff at its heart.
  • Demonstrable experience in dealing with complexity and ambiguity – responding to changing landscapes and demands.
  • Consistently demonstrates a high level of personal resilience in managing competing pressures.
  • Strong leadership skills – both of high performing teams and corporately, with the proven ability to inspire and empower colleagues to deliver.
  • DV clearance – to be obtained once in post.

Desirable Criteria

  • Sound knowledge of policing, criminal justice and/or fire and rescue services would be an advantage.
  • Experience of leading ‘Critical Incident’ responses across diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience of working closely with political leaders, with the ability to anticipate and predict large-scale reputational risks and impacts including political and social developments.
  • Strong financial management skills.
