Welcome

Thank you for expressing an interest in becoming a board member of Hightown Housing Association.

Hightown is a charitable organisation providing affordable homes and a wide range of care and supported housing services across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire to families, single people and people with disabilities who cannot afford to access housing on the private market.

We have over 7,200 affordable homes, around 1,000 staff and an annual turnover of £100 million. Our aim is to deliver demonstrable social value and impact in all of our activities. Hightown is one of the fasted growing housing associations in the country and we expect to build 2,000 affordable homes over the next four years.

Hightown is governed by a Board of eleven non-executives (currently unremunerated) which is supported by four scrutiny Committees. Meetings would usually take place in the evenings in Hemel Hempstead and Board members attend around 18 meetings a year.

Our Board members bring a wide range of skills and expertise and we are looking to attract a diverse group of people who can bring professional skills and insight to contribute to the leadership and strategy of Hightown.

We would expect applicants to evidence support for our charitable objectives and some knowledge of housing and social care. We are particularly seeking applicants with skills/experience in one or more of the following areas: housing development; governance in organisations with charitable purpose/public benefit objectives; HR/organisational development; lived experience of social housing and marketing/communications.

If you are excited by the opportunity to make a difference to the lives of hundreds of adults and children across Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Berkshire please take a look at the information in this pack and have a conversation with Green Park who will tell you more about our work.
