The trustee board

Sir John Armitt CBE FREng FCGI

The Trustee Board is currently chaired by our Chairman of the Council, Sir John Armitt. Sir John became Chairman of the Council in October 2012. He previously held the position of Chairman of the Olympic Delivery Authority in 2007. He also has extensive, high-level experience in the Civil Engineering industry having also been Chief Executive of Network Rail.  Sir John is due to retire as Chair of the Council of the City and Guilds of London Institute in October 2021.

Dr Ann Limb CBE DL FCGI

Ann is Chair of the South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership and Scouts Association. She is also Chairman of the Fellowship Committee and Skills Development Fund. She was awarded Fellowship in 2002 and was appointed as Chair Elect in October 2020 to start as Chair of the Council of the City and Guilds of London Institute in October 2021.

Kevin Baughan OBE

Kevin is Deputy Chief Executive of Innovate UK. He became a City and Guilds of London Institute Councillor in 2017. 

Ann Brown

Ann is Vice President Human Resources at Cognizant and has been a City and Guilds of London Institute Councillor since 2015.

Chris Fenton

Chris is a Non-Executive Director, Trustee and Advisor based on a commercially focused career in the private and public sectors. He is applying his experience to education and skills infrastructure sectors. 

Professor Alison Halstead FCGI

Alison is Director of HT Consulting and was awarded Fellowship in 2012. She has been a City and Guilds of London Institute Councillor since 2013.

Andy Marchant

Andy is currently a consultant and has been a City and Guilds of London Institute Councillor since 2017.

Andy Smyth

Andy is the Director of Ah Ha! Consulting Ltd and previously held worked for TUI Travel, UK & Ireland as their Early Talent and Apprenticeships Manager. He’s been a City and Guilds of London Institute Councillor since 2011. 

Richard (Dick) Palmer

Dick Palmer has worked in the education and skills sector for over 30 years, latterly as Principal of City College Norwich and currently as a Consultant. He has been a City and Guilds of London Institute Councillor since November 2018. 

Frank Douglas

Prior to starting Caerus, Frank has held many senior HR roles – Executive Vice President for HR at Misys, Group HR Director for TfL and Regional Vice President HR at Shell. Frank is also a Trustee at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. He joined as a Councillor of the City and Guilds of London Institute in March 2019.

Jane Gibbon

Jane was recently appointed as Chief People Officer at London Business School and has previously held positions as HR Director at Just Eat, having previously been HR Director for Starbucks EMEA. Prior to that she has held senior HR roles at Tesco, McDonald’s Europe, and Yahoo.  Jane has also co-founded Lift as You Climb UK and is a board member at Amaechi Performance Systems Ltd. She joined as a Councillor of the City and Guilds of London Institute in March 2019.
