Essential

  • Excellent communication skills with the capacity to carry colleagues with them in a collaborative manner.
  • Ability to consider and constructively challenge the performance, strategy, and objectives of City & Guilds.
  • Commitment to City & Guild’s evolving strategic plan, vision, and our purpose.
  • Unquestioned integrity, good humour, and intellectual versatility.

Digital/Technology Trustee:

  • Senior management/leadership level experience in commercial organisations of significant scale and complexity (at either Executive or Non-Executive Board level).
  • Experience as a COO/CDO/CTO or equivalent.
  • Track record of delivering transformational change to business processes and/or technologies for service improvement and customer satisfaction.
  • Strong track record of achievements in environments that are changing their industries through disruptive innovation strategies.

Treasurer:

  • Senior strategic management experience gained in a commercial business and/or in a public/ third sector institution of significant scale and complexity.
  • Experience as CFO or Finance Director level or equivalent, ideally as a qualified accountant.
  • Strong track record of achievements in complex or changing environments.
  • Breadth of vision and a strong grasp of governance issues, including charity governance, alongside an eye for detail.
  • Demonstrable experience of organisational transition and the management of change.
  • Strong relationship building skills, with the ability to build the right relationship with the CFO and to challenge and support the CFO.

Desirable

Digital/Technology Trustee:

  • Experience of working with charities or other not-for-profit organisations.

Treasurer:

  • Previous experience of the charity sector and of chairing a Finance Committee in an organisation of significant scale and complexity.
