  • Track record of delivery of income growth
  • Track record of income strategy development and delivery
  • Experience of developing income where others are leading content/ holding relationships
  • Experience of building relationships with high level funders and/or stakeholders
  • Senior level experience of leading teams – including teams which are not income specialists
  • Track record of leadership of change
  • Up to date knowledge of fundraising protocols and regulatory environment


  • Senior level experience and track record of leading communications, campaigns, marketing and digital (eg external communications, crisis communications, internal communications, digital communications, direct marketing, digital marketing, brand development, campaigns, influencers)
  • Experience and track record in trading / commercial income development
  • Experience and track record in bid writing and contractual relationship management (in trusts and foundations or government contracts)
  • Experience of Arts Council funding at high level
  • Experience as media spokesperson

Educated to degree level or equivalent


  • Full-time or four days per week role (pro-rata)
  • The post will be based in our offices in Battersea, London expected to be c two to three days a week – though BookTrust is currently fully home-working.
  • There may be a requirement for occasional evening or weekend work consistent with the seniority of the position
  • The postholder will be expected to carry out all duties in line with BookTrust policies and procedures and be prepared to undertake additional reasonable duties, as required
